There are three extensions to the Longshore and Harbor Workers Compensation Act. One being the Defense Base Act, the second being the Outer Continental Shelf Lands Act and the third being the Non-appropriated Funds Instrumentality's Act. Under the DBA, or defense based acts, covers the civilian contractors working overseas. The Outer Continental, OCSLA Act, covers injured workers working on off-shore oil drilling platforms and the Non-appropriated Funds Instrumentality's Act, covers civilians employees working on U.S. military bases state side.
